After looking at Marks calendar, I noticed that the SC looks a lot like my DC. What is the difference? |

The guy looked at him all confused and "The Great Mike Schotte" continued, "The SC will set 11 chickens on the steering but the DC will set 13". The SC and DC are very similar, just less, or more, of the same thing. |

| I believe that I read in Old Abes News that the SC was conceived as a modular tractor. A three cylinder tractor, a four cylinder tractor and a six cylinder tractor. But we all know how that worked out. Barry. |

| My D takes up more yard space than my SC when I mow around it. It also makes more shade for the hound dog. |

| Can't speak too much on the DC but I wouldn't trade my SC for a lot of dow. Its dependable, runs smooth in spite of my hand valve job and sort of a rebuild 15 years ago. The hand clutch is great and I'm debating if i don't like it over my foot clutch green, red, and other orange brand tractors I have. One thing about the difference is the engine's crankability. My Sc is fairly easy to crank - I'm not sure I would want to crank a DC???? Let's face it - any Case is a good heavy duty old tractor. |

| Thanks for the info. Very entertaining. I am assuming that they are very close in size and were built in the same years. Would the engines be basiclly the same as well? Why would Case build two tractors for the same market in the same years? |

| The SC has around a 160 cubic inch displacment engine and the DC has around a 260 cubic inch displacment engine. The tractors are about as different as the Farmall H and M are different. |

| THEY WERN'T THE SAME BY NO MEANS, THE SC WAS A TWO PLOW TRACTOR AND THE DC WAS A THREE PLOW TRACTOR, IF YOU HAD ONE OF EACH AND USED THEM YOU WOULD GET USED TO THEM VERY EASY, IF YOU ONLY USED THEM NOW AND THAN MAYBE YOU HAD TO STOP AND THINK, NO DIFERENT THAN IH OR MM OR JD |

| The V, S, D, and the LA series were all produced from 1939-1954 ERA. They were all targeted for different size farming. The V series were 1-2 plow tractors, The S was 2 plow, the D was 3 plow, and the LA was 4 plow.They are known as the Flambeau era with the last R models and the big 500 Diesels included. You can easily tell the difference between the SC and DC just by looking at the fronts. The DC has a large cast iron grill and the SC is sheet metal plus the DC has the vertical stripe in the center. Plus as Jim gently put it for most of the years the S clutch is on the right and the DC is on the left. Get both and then you can enjoy them. |

| The DC is faster on the road . and slower in the field in low gear. THERE ARE Just .so dam many differences CASE Co. ought to be ashamed of themselves for building the bacasswards SC, last Nite i Pulled the barn door off with the feed grinder , because I thought I was going to back up , AND I WAS IN 3RD.. thats Why I am VENTING ! Flimsy solid steel VERY bendable steering rod , Battery on either tractor in different and POOR locations, The DC has a Man killer radiator , the SC radiator housing can be destroyed /smashed RUNNING into or under something , While reaching for the hand clutch on prefootclutch models ,, MOST SCs had the hand clutch on right , most DCs had them on the LEFT ???? WTH ,for the worn out farmer who happens to own both models , Although Case Offered a opposite clutch side option kit ,, I have both DC and SC with Ft Clutches , Both built in 1954 ,and use them weekly ... what frustrates me is though both tractors feel the same in CHARACTOR , they are Difinitely not the Same , I HAVE TO STOP and THINK when Shifting Gears around the barn lot ,when hopping from one to the other , Invariably while on the SC , When wanting to back up I will Place the Shifter in 3rd (DC POSITION) And pull up instead,, More often I kill the candy SC motor... a healthy DC will do twice the work of an Sc with the same amount of Fuel in Comfort .. I have a tuff49 VAC , that will make the SC blush in shame ... My SC has been Rebuilt .. I t should be a Powerhorse like the SC I sold my Nephew In defense , of My SC , the Governor just can't be right.. It does OK on the Feed Grinder ,, There is No way it will go to War and pull a Plow . like my DC is Anxious to do ..... other dumb differences are Brakes ,(Whynot interchangable )?..The Entire Front wheel Assemblies are totally different ,the tranny housing LOOKs identical(but Can't Be , because intelligent logics says they would have the same gear pattern ), Although the fenders , Seat , Hydraulic pump Will Interchange , WOW .Also . The 38 " wheels interchange as well with a JD, IHC as common vendor parts .... BUT GUYS , I always Dreamed of Having a pair of SC /DC footclutchers ,,, Now that I have them , I am still Pleased ,, , just can't figure out what Case was or (was NOT THINKING ) , when they engineered these tractors....LOL |

| SC is kind of handy especially around the yard, DC is a clumbsy brute with the driving characteristics of a truck. |

| Hey Jim, I have a resting place over here for that SC. Just drop it off and your SC worries will disappear! Remember you can't tear the barn door off with a SC if you don't have one. |

| Well , Dennis ,,That Sc ain't ready to go to a museum and give up the Ghost Yet ,, Hopefully , I am gonna figure out Why It don't want to Work Hard earn its keep this winter, governor linkage is RIGHT , Perhaps a NEW CARB? !,Perhaps valves need fine tuning again ??? ... ALWAYS Starts easily..Just Don't have No WHOOPAZZ-SASS ... Mike and I can fix the barn door easily enuf, should A had my backside fully planted in the operators seat , so i could stab the Ft clutch When i grabbed the wrong gear . Only Moved a foot ,But the Door got Damaged ,by the grinder unloading auger ..Harvest time makes for some Long Days Around here and still Playing Catchup , Sometimes I feel like a ONE ARMED paper HANGER .... And Yes , I at least have a barn (actually3) have a barn , And a SC,and a nephew , sons , brothers and friends and neighbors that don't mind laughing with me thru my problems ... |

| Golly, Jim, maybe you should take a minute and tell us how you really feel!!!! Not sure why you don't like the SC but after using them for many moons it was always backwards to get on a DC with the left hand clutch. With the CC and C being on the right it took some getting used to on the DC. We always pulled two 14's in the hills without any problems, had fluid in all tires on all tractors as it was a requirement working on hills both going up and coming down. If you ever want a thrill ride try going down a hill with an 8N with a wagon load of bales behind it. |
