One of the best things about them is that the pulley from your generator (that runs the wide belt) will bolt right onto the front of those alternators. Throw the tin fan away, these engines turn so slow that you don"t need the cooling. Then just fabricate the brackets & do the wiring. You may even get away with using the original belt if you"re creative enough with the brackets. I"ve done my 311 and and 2 Internationals, and the alternators are tucked up tight against the engine, and the sheet metal goes on right over the top of them. I have considered going to an alternator but didn't think there woud be room, especially if the side panels are mounted. But it sounds like there would be room. Would you be able/willing to post a couple of closeup pictures of how your brackets are shaped and mounted? Do you remember what belt is right? As for making the bracket you just have to look a where the generator was hooked on to, bolt holes and at the altenator and work at it.
