Paid $700 for mine. Sounds like the starter seal is out, not hard to change. Might want to check filter for the COM, This gets plugged and the tractor doesn"t move. Chances are,it has a trans problem causing it not to move. try going into high range. if you here a rattling noise when you let out the clutch. It means the transmision range selector is between gears. This is a common problem with the 800"s. Might have to play with it. best try low range that is the easyest range to find

Sounds like you did get it started. Where does fluid fly out? Not sure how that could happen.

I think that the bellhousing is wet and the starter should have a seal to keep the oil out of the armature.

I BOUGHT 2 CASE 800 TRACTORS FROM A FRIEND A MONTH AGO. HIS WIFE WAS BUGGING HIM TO GET THEM OUT OF THE YARD.ONE IS A PARTS TRACTOR AND ONE RUNS BUT BLOWS BY A LOT . EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMS TO WORK. ITS A 802B STANDARD AND HAS NEW TIRES ON THE BACK AS WELL AS A 3 POINT. I WOULD SELL IT FOR $1000. NORTHEAST OK 9185424008 PAUL
