tractor sit 5 months i didnt see it run b 4 that but im sure it ran better than this.im really not that interested in throwin money and a lot of extra time at it,but if i cant turn it into someonelses project . i didnt get took on the tractor. rooster offered me more than i gave for it. if it ran sound id just add it to the collection.2-h's,m w-6,560,1086,530,580,930,8-n,and a wd are already in the barn. seems like the parts for this 800 could get expensive $170 for a gasket kit ???

Hi John ,, When i was 12 . We hill started Dads . My sister had dropped me and brother off at the field , and Roared off to other demands ...it was a cool morning , 800 fortunately was on top of the hill,,, from the 1st 10seconds of cranking , WE could tell the battery would weakensoon . AND NO ETHER . So released the Brakes , opened valves with Decompressor , Placed in 6th gear , set throttle at full , engaged direct drive , While rolling engaged starter , When i felt tranny drag pickup and momentum was strong , dumped the decompressor all the while cranking engine , And THE LADY WAS a RUNNIN ...... Shoo-weesh . that saved us a walk back to the farm..

yes, I've heard of that done, but I've never had occassion to do it. Problem is, when I've mentioned that, as an alternative, I get funny looks, so I was wonderin'.

My first questuion is, how well did you know the previous owner? Did you see it run? You won't be the first person to have been "snookered". Been there, done that myself.

Secondly, how long has it been sitting?

To get that kind of blowby you have to be pressurizing the valve train which could be caused by a number of valve, head, or gasket issues. Was it running on all 4 cylinders? Sounds like "tear down" time. LOL!

someone rode it hard and put it Up Wet,, Didnt treat it Right .. This is the 267 Diesel Right , or is it a 251 gasser ,, either way , i can only tell you my experience ,,. OK,. Got a YAwNMar ray doing the same trick , that i will take all the way down and autopsy ,, Troble is put rings in it this summer and it never was RIGHT, i suspect perhaps wrong new RINGS , cracked Pistons , Or cracked Sleeve, Or cracked head.. Any of those Could be Your problem,, At any rate a STITCH in TIME will SAVE 9 , . Drag out the wrenches ,,,even though the motor appears blown ,, it is worthy to fix back right ...
