Why is there a hydraulic relief valve in the upper remote valve pair (left side) on my 900? Which pair should I use for a normal hydraulic cylinder on a plow? I've always used the uppers, but don't know the difference. Thanks |

Another stupid thing Case did was in the operators book they had forward to lift and back to go in the ground. I am a pilot and in a stick plane you pull back to go up and forward to go down. That carry's over to the tractor and had to go with the plane set up. Will the relief valve made the up not as powerful as it it should be. Case has had and stll do have the stupidest engineers in the world.

Wow- learn something on this board every day! I've always used the top set at the plow days, plugged in to lift when the lever is pulled back. There were times it didn't lift the plow like I thought it should- now I know why! I just thought my hydraulics were weak.

That's all I ever used on my 900s was the bottom set, never had any problems.

Are you sure it is not an adjustable restrictor to control the "drop" speed of the remote? That is what I think you are referring to. It was standard on the 900 and the early 30 series. If you needed to control the lowering speed of the remote, use the top set of couplers. Otherwise, it makes no difference which pair you use.

think this is relif valve to protect the pump. My 800 has one there also. Someone use nickles to shim the spring and boost presure. Caused the pump to loose prime because the Hydrolic oil was not circlating past the valve. Made for big problems. the loader would work then stop working

Thanks for the help, guys. The parts book calls it a relief valve, but I didn't understand why it would only be on the top hose pair. I have the 900, a '60 930, and a '64 930 western, and they all have the same setup. The reason I asked is that I'm putting new hoses and Pioneer fittings on the '60, but only need one pair, and the swivel on the relief valve is real sloppy, so I will probably use the bottom pair instead.
