My d14 did that, it ended up being the hdy. cylinder leeking inside the housing.

mj,
Are you sure it's hydraulic fluid overfilling your PD?
My tranny oil is migrating to the PD on my Series II D-17. Because I use 80/90EP in my tranny, the resulting mix is a mess!

The manual calls for 80EP in the trans/diff but I guess lots of guys use Hy-Tran nowadays.
I may switch to Hy-tran in the trans/diff as well. That is what I use in the PD and since they seem to want to mix it up anyway, it may be less troublesome.

If its the hose wouldn't it be filling rear end and not trans?

Trans. and rear end run together. Forward compartment is power director.

What Bob said- you need to remove the casting holding the hyd lift arms on the rear of the tractor. I&T AC 17 manual for details. There is an internal hose that feeds the rockshaft to move the lift arms. It's decades old. It breaks.

Rockshaft lift cylinder, but more likely, the internal hose going to it gave out. Dumps hyd. oil into rear end.
