Brennon Raser 01-18-2013 07:23:14 208.123.49.210 Report to Moderator	My 53 wd runs real choppy at idle. New plugs and wires. Cleaned all the contacts under the dist cap. Removed the air cleaner and cleaned everything, added new oil to the cup. I also removed the gas tank and cleaned the inside with grit, removing all the rust and other crud in there. Also removed the carb and soaked and cleaned it. Under load when pushing snow it runs great when the gov kicks in, no missing, it will push all day long. Any suggestions or is the popping and crackling somewhat normal? Thanks. [Reply]   [No Email]

After start up it was running real rough. Cleaned out the sediment bowl and let some gas run out of the carb bowl and it ran perfect. 1 week later it was running bad again, it would die under load. Cleaned out the sediment bowl again and let some gas out the carb float bowl and I pushed snow for 2 1/2 hours with barely a miss. Glad it was something simple, this time. Thanks for all your help. Soaked it, let it dry in the sun, re-installed, and cleaned the carb inlet and it ran fine after that... Sounds like you may be beyond that one, though. [Reply]  [No Email]

Leon RCMo 01-18-2013 19:31:59 67.142.182.21 Report to Moderator	Re: WD missing at idle in reply to Brennon Raser, 01-18-2013 07:23:14   Inside the carb. there is a thin metal riser between the bottom half and top half of the carb. they have a thin lip that fits between the two halves, with your plyers bend the lip out a little all the way around. Keeps the vacuum steady at low RPM. [Reply]  [No Email]

Even worn Valve-Guides... Are you sure the timing is not Advanced..?? On my WD-45, there is a "Surge Spring" attached behind the carburetor.. Maybe yours needs one..? Ron.. You might be able to improve on it some by adjusting the idle mixture screw. Remember that screw works back wards of the main jet so out is richer in is leaner [Reply]  [No Email]

Many say screw it in all the way to bottom but not super tight and then back it out 1-1/2 turns and then leave it.
