Matt Reinders 01-06-2013 19:49:36 71.10.127.31 Report to Moderator	I am in the final stages of my very first restoration of this wd45. I bought it with a toggle switch to start the engine, but I am putting a key switch back on it. The switch has two ends on it and one end gets wired to the coil. The other end I am not sure if it gets wired to ground or to the ammeter. If it is the ammeter, does it get wired to the positive or negative? That way the current for the ignition registers on the amp meter. Am I wrong? [Reply]  [No Email]

Manual and AC Service Manual and it is a little confusing since the manuals give information for the magneto and the old style generator cut-outs. My tractor has been updated to a 12 volt generator with a new style Gen/Regulator and I use the key switch and original light switch for lights only(not charge rate).I would like to see pictures of your tractor since it sound like a good restoration job.Hope this helps.cleddy [Reply]  [No Email]

So did you bring it back to what it was new from top to bottom??? If you say not then it is not restored or even close. I hate that term since few can read what Webster says it means. That said it should have a distributor so it has to get battery power to the coil so it will run. As for which side of the amp gauge you hook it to the side that goes the the battery. I apologize if I have offended you with the term restoration. I would agree that the term can be used loosely and is based on ones interpretation of the word. For your peace of mind here is what has been done to the tractor. The block was decked and hot tanked, new sleeves, new pistons, new rings, new main and journal bearings, all new gasket kit, new electrical harness, new ammeter, new radiator, new temperature gauge, new tires, new front tire seals, one new rear rim, the other was repaired, all sheet metal was sandblasted, primed then painted, new battery box, original rear light was added back, brand new decal kit, new hydraulic hoses. I think that is it. That is my interpretation of a restoration, I hope it fits your definition. Thanks again for your help and I'll be sure to pot picks when I am done. [Reply]  [No Email]

Reason I am so tight on this is I have seen far to many that said it was original and have aftermarket aluminum valve covers or a tractor like say a WD with WD45 decals but yet the guy would swear up down and side ways it was in fact a WD45 but yet the engine had the WD side cover and the shifter was the WD straight shifter so over the years I have found the term restore was fiction in at least 75% of the stuff and yes I will call them out [Reply]  [No Email]
