Even if your tractor never had a starter it most likely has the ring gear on the flywheel. If by chance it does not, a standard 100 tooth flywheel for a WC is what you need. We converted ours with all WC parts including the frame mounted battery box. We didn"t even mess with a charging system or lights, just use a group 26 12 volt battery hooked up negative ground and charge the battery every so often. Kip [Reply]  [No Email]

Will a starter and generator from a WC or WD-45 work? If you have any tips on converting an RC to electric start would be great. I will only convert it in a way that I could return it to original. There are more than just a few differences including a made for RC only flywheel and radiator which is longer than a B/C one. I've seen many of these differences on my machine. Befor you rip into the transmission, replace the pin on the shifter or get a over size one. Even a good shifter needs to be shifted cleanly and don't cut the cornors of the shift pattern. Only a few differences between an RC and WC. Engine is the most obvious one, then, because of less power, the differential gears are different, to give slower speeds, and the belt pulley is smaller, identical to a B or C. I have two RC's, both have a starter hole (casting is the same as a WC), one had a starter, the other did not, although the flywheel has a ring gear on it. Your starter hole may have a pressed steel cover in it. [Reply]  [No Email]

Traded for it from second owners son. Their family bought it a year old in 1940 to replace their dispised Fordson. Which side is the starter whole on? I havent had it running yet. It's been inside drained of gas and coolesnt for about ten years. The Transmission sometimes gets stuck in two gears. I know of a WC in a junkyard I may buy for the transmission parts and part out the rest. [Reply]  [No Email]
