KCTractors 12-09-2012 10:07:31 166.182.80.7 Report to Moderator	Converted a WD Allis to 12 volt Delco alternator with built in regulator. The tractor is not used much, just this last 3-4 months, it went through 3 alternators already. Put in a new battery at the time of converting it. I converted maybe 20 to 25 different tractors and this the first one that giving me problems. The alternators are coming from FleetFarm [Reply]   [No Email]

On a Ford PU we once killed two rebuilds without getting out the shop because the batteries were run clear dead and we would jump it to start it. Continuous high output to charge a large nearly dead battery will smoke some alternators. A 35 amp rating means 35 amps for a few minutes and 20 amp continuous. Low rpms which is not spinning the cooling fan fast enough?   [Reply]  [No Email]

Folks on this website told me and once I opened one up it was obvious how to do it. You can get a complete rebuild kit with all of the screws, the bearings, brushes and holder, regulator, diodes and rectifier for just over $20 on ebay and there may be cheaper sources that I don't know about. I get all mine form O'Reilly's due to the fact they come with a life time warranty and have yet to ever have much of any problems with them. Ya it works best if you tell them you want an alternator from say a 1980 Chev pick up no power any thing with say an 350 engine and doing that is just so the guy behind the counter does not have to think hard LOL   [Reply]  [No Email]
