Just curious. I have a few shop manuals, but the pictures are pretty grainy and was wondering if anyone on the web had some good (color preferred) pictures of taking apart or putting back together a WD-style engine?

Check the manual regarding the plug.

Interesting. I take it that the cork is the "shaft plug" listed there? Hmmm.

Tom MN's work on his Alice WC has some engine pictures. Best to return to the front page after each view, in order not to get lost.

Mike Fischer has many pics in his album.

Thanks for the fantastic info -- great pictures there. Currently just going head-deep into it so I can take it to a machine shop and check the block for cracks... But I noticed he plugged the rocker assembly with cork? What's that all about?

Main thing is to KEEP all the bearing SHIMS with each rod or Main bolt..

Take the crank out and you can drive the Sleeves out with a mallet and a block of wood..

be SURE to CLEAN the block (inside AND out) and scrub the Sleeve locations well...

Setting the Bearing Clearances are what you MUST take your time with and be sure you know what you are doing..

A WD-45 crank is always a great BIG PLUS, if you can find a good one..makes much more power..and install a 9-spring engine clutch and pressure-plate..
Do this and she will carry the front-end in 2nd gear while plowing any time ya want..!!

Good way to clean the block out? Especially the antifreeze chambers?

With the Sleeves out and the freeze Plugs out, you can get it clean with a garden hose and a piece of baling wire..

You will need to be sure the areas where the Sleeves contact are well cleaned..
