Plastic guides were standard, the Corn Special had the cast ones 'cuz they are more durable. You mention screws----are yours roundheads? Heat them if necessary to remove,then replace with the hex headed screws.

| If the fingers are still in, and the guides are worn out, the fingers will run inside the tube, and crease the tube from the inside, eventually splitting the tube....ie, header auger. you don't want to know what that costs to replace! Years ago, it was over 3 grand from the dealer. dealer had rebuilt for half. I took mine to Howard, SD, got it rebuilt with a heavier center for $750.....same place my dealer had his rebuilt.
