Need to rebuild or replace carb on fresh rebuilt engine. Sucking a lot of air around worn out throttle shaft bushing/seal. I can barely make out OEM numbers on brass boss as carb looks beat up all over from several rebuilds. Ordered an 1126-CARB from this site because listed as D17 early? OEM replacement for M/S TSX464,TSX773,TSX871. This morning after order noticed farther down list D17 late? OEM 12217, the Zenith carb no. that I have. Would this make any difference? Or would either carb replacement work? I thought that the Zenith model 267J8 part no. 12217-229342 "Was" used on the early 1957 and 1958 D17s and not the later series. Was the M/S TSX464 a WD45 carb with whatever linkages the WD45 had? Thanks for any insight as I'm needing this D17 for haying and running late! |

| I forgot to add in my first reply that on all the 226 tractor engines(combine was governed differently), probably the carb. choke control lever changed more than the carb. throttle lever. |

| I can't answer your specific questions without a lot of research. I can tell you that there isn't much difference from a WD45 engine to an early D17 engine. I believe the governor linkage was the same.(Maybe a different internal spring for a different rated speed). Seems like you should be OK. I remember a neighbor acquired an old D17 with the wrong carb. It was obviously too small. I can't remember what it was, maybe off a WD? I told him so, and that it would start and perform better with the correct carb. He wasn't about to change it because it would burn more gas! It didn't take much to make it labor! |
