I own a 1968 allis-chalmers 180 i am having trouble with it not staying running. It will start run for a few seconds then shut off. I have replaced the fuel bowl fuel filter and still the same results. There is lots of fuel going to the injector pump. if any one can help that would be great

The governor damper ring in the Roosa IP has disintegrated and it's remains are clogging the outlet fitting/housing pressure regulating valve causing the pump to stop injecting fuel.

If you remove the fitting you will note that it is clogged with a coffee grounds-like substance.

Clean it out, and it will run 'til it plugs again. There's a spring-loaded glass ball in there, making it a bit tough to clean.

Get the IP repaired ASAP, 'cause eventually the governor parts will go "metal-to-metal", which is NOT good.

The plastic ring is located deep inside the injection pump, and normally the pump is sent to an injection pump shop when it's replacement is needed, although many of us have successfully done it ourselves.

Here's a photo, found on the 'net, of a ring that has blackened with age and about to fail, with a picture of a new one in the photo below it.

Here is a photo, also found on the 'net, of a disassembled pump showing the location of the plastic ring with the "guts" of the pump removed from the case:

HTH!

Thanks Bob i cleaned the fitting where the glass ball is and the tractor is running for now. looks like i will be having the pump rebuilt soon.

They are not that hard to do , if it was running good before - it just needs the new ring , the head and rotor comes out and the retainers right there
