1. Old, I added the ATF in each cylinder and have let it soak two days and it does have better compression. 2. I took off the valve cover and had a look see. Nothing hanging up. Everything did get a blast of PB to help with anything I may have overlooked. 3. Took the carb off and did a fast clean on it with the PB as well. Yes it was gummy and is now clean. I shot it through every port and it came out the other end. Even cleaned it out with the tip cleaners from the torch. Here's the update. I have gas to the carb. I have free valves. I have added ATF to the cylinders and PB. Been there two days. Much better compression. But she doesn"t even want to start. I have yet to pull the tractor since I need the rear tire. I'd rather leave it sit and monkey with it there rather than pull it and then have a tractor on the rim. I'm sure it's something I have missed. Will be getting the fluids changed and also getting the points and condenser changed as well this week. If any of you have more advice on what to look for and to be sure of that would be helpful. I'm able to do the work but sometimes a second opinion is better. |

| I know this may sound stupid, but since you have put atf in the cylinders, did you turn the engine over a few times without the plugs in it to get rid of the most of the atf. If your plugs are soaked with oil, it's not gonna fire. Just my thoughts, Keith |

| If cranking from the opposite side and being able to see the spark from the other side was and option then I would. I really have to ask the helper to have a look see after I tell her just what I am looking for. I would think she would be looking for a shark before she saw a spark unless I could show her. Anyways will see if the spark is there somehow and get back to you all. |

| If you have a PTP/Belt pulley wrap a rope around the pulley and pull it like a pull start lawn mower. Will give a good spin and is a lot safer than trying to spin it with a crank.Bill |

| | In a earlier post he said it had a magneto and a dead 6V battery. If you really want to see if it'll run get out the 12volt and jumper cables and hit the starter terminal with a good shot of power. If you've put ATF in the cylinders be ready for TONS OF SMOKE. The last one I tried started great and set off a couple smoke alarms. |

| | Have you checked for spark yet? Have you found a tire yet? I'm may have one for you, but I'm located about halfway between Rochester and Syracuse. Let me know if you are interested. |

| First off PB and a carb NOT a good mix. Buy a can or 2 of REAL carb cleaner at O'Reilly's, napa etc. Shoot even Wal-Mart has carb cleaner in spray cans and re-clean the carb. Also The first thing you should have checked is your spark. Needs to be a nice Blue/White and needs to jump a 1/4 inch gap or more but nothing less then a 1/4 inch. Now if I remember right this tractor is only a hand start and if that is correct you may need to get a tire before you will get it to start. Would you believe back in the day a lot of the hand start machines where in fact started the first couple times by pulling them so they could tweak every thing on each to make them start by hand |
