CharlieLCDR 02-07-2010 14:47:22 68.23.154.105 123644 Report to Moderator	Broke starter nose on my D17 gas series III. It was a clean break. Has anyone ever welded these? If not does anyone know where I can get a nose? I checked the engine and it turns over ok. I had noticed that the tractor turned over slow of late so it may have been broken for awhile. It very likely broke for a REASON as will the replacement, if you don't find the cause and repair it.   [Reply]   [No Email]

I welded the nose cone off a 2 cyl Deere starter just to get by until the replacement came. The 'just to get by' period lasted five years or so until I finally got ambitious and put the new one on.
