steve alderman 11-02-2009 14:23:10 68.81.233.34 120664 Report to Moderator	got a 39 chalmers b runs great but has some but has grey oil like water in it any chance its bad oil it has not been used about 4 years I am hoping its only a head gasket but the thing runs great no smoke of any sort well if anybody has had a problem like this let me know thanks [Reply]   [Send Email]
steve(ill) 11-02-2009 19:55:41 74.36.186.212 120691 Report to Moderator	Re: chalmers b problem in reply to steve alderman, 11-02-2009 14:23:10   i would get the old oil out and try with different oil. just buy 4 quarts of cheap stuff. it will need to be changed a second time after it runs and flushes out some of the old oil. if the new oil gets overfull with water, take off the valve cover and look at the three freeze plugs under the rocker arm. they can rust out and cause that problem.   [Reply]   [Send Email]

I would drain the oil and see what it looks like for sure and make sure it doesn't have any green water in it because it is green then it is coolant and that could be a head gasket of sleeve seal   [Reply]   [Send Email]

I have the same problem with a C that I bought. The previous owner went through the engine, transmission, and rearend. The engine and rearend have the same milky like oil.
