Darrel Glaspey 10-09-2009 16:20:51 207.200.116.6 119938 Report to Moderator	I am wondering if any one can tell me why the engine in my AC- D-14 turns counter clockwise ?? When I bought it, the battery was hooked up Neg. Ground .. I changed it to Pos. Ground and it still turns the engine over counter clockwise. The distributor is turning clockwise. Secondly, when I bring it to TDC on the flywheel, it is TDC #4 not #1 [Reply]   [Send Email]

mlpankey 10-12-2009 08:39:27 70.153.142.5 119996 Report to Moderator	Re: Motor turns counter clockwise in reply to El Toro, 10-12-2009 08:20:17   here is the simpliest way to tell if a starter should be cw or ccw. if the starter goes in the front of the bell housing and runs parallel withe the engine block its a cw winding starter. if it goes in the back side of the bellhousing its a ccw starter. paint one tooth of the bendix with the starter on a bench run the starter in the position it attaches to the bell housing and see if it spins the correct way.remember in a gear to gear application the drive gear turns the opposite way you want the driven gear to turn in this situation the starter should turn opposite way you want the fly wheel to turn.   [Reply]   [Send Email]

Its a 4 stroke, every other revolution it is on compression. starter always turns the right way, dont matter what polarity or voltage.   [Reply]   [Send Email]

The bendix will only extend if it is spinning the right way. Polarity will not reverse a starter motor.The motor should rotate clockwise in relation to you facing the front of the tractor.
