  • we use an acremaster and a waltanna on our property here in australia..the acremaster was built over in western australia and the waltanna was built south of us here in victoria near hamilton.the acremaster is fitted with a L10 cummins engine while the wally has a 3306 cat under the hood. Both tractors have been very good to us as they were bought second hand.If anyone wants to know more about either of these machines just leave a message or send an email

  • Interesting article. I am not familiar with the terms used in the article, stripper and stripper-harvester. Are these the same as thresher or combine, or something else?

  • Hi there re; AH MacDonald Melb Aust. They imported AVANCE tractors from Sweden. I have here a 1926 model Avance and I had it for around 4 years and one day looking at it I realized there was no "D" in its name. regards John

  • Bob, your article is a wonderful overview on the history of ag. tractors here in Australia. As a boy growing up on a farming property in WA's wheatbelt, my father owned two AW6's, a super AWD9 (which I still own), and a 40K Chamberlain. A little further info. on the Acremaster - it was made in Merredin W.A., by Laurie Phillips, before eventually joining the IHC fold. He then went on to form a new company, the aptly named Phoenix Tractors, with a whole new design. Phoenix are still alive today, producing a variety of locally manufactured implements.

  • Interesting reading, sometimes it's good to read an article like this to show that good products didn't just come from overseas. I was amazed at the inventivness of those pioneers what a sadness to lose it.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract. ... [Read Article]
