The piston does not move when you lift the arms. Next place to go is to pull the small cover on the side of the DOM valve that you say moves under the seat. There is a check valve, and 2 needle valves under there. DO NOT mess with the needle valves unless you have a service manual. One of them will need to be cleaned and reset, and the other is the adjustment for the control of the valve. DO NOT mess with this one!!!! I have not been into one for a couple years and do not remember which one is which. I do need to do my 970 before I blow snow again so one of these days I will have the info you need if someone else does not chime in.
