Did you check the end play on the pulley shaft it should be around .001 to.002. If it is to tight it will preload the bearings and they will get hot when running and if it is to loose it will cause uneven bearing wear and even some noise. I am in the process of putting the trans mission back togrther on my 49 SC and have set all of the shaft end plays at .002. I have not heard it run yet but that should be the right clearence on most shafts were tapered roller bearings are used. Hope this helps KYCASE1
