I have a 311 and expect to need to change the charging system sometime. I have considered going to an alternator but didn't think there woud be room, especially if the side panels are mounted.
But it sounds like there would be room.
Would you be able/willing to post a couple of closeup pictures of how your brackets are shaped and mounted? Do you remember what belt is right? Did you have to change any pulleys? etc.
