The old chevy internally regulated alternators are popular for conversions. One of the best things about them is that the pulley from your generator (that runs the wide belt) will bolt right onto the front of those alternators. Throw the tin fan away, these engines turn so slow that you don"t need the cooling. Then just fabricate the brackets & do the wiring. You may even get away with using the original belt if you"re creative enough with the brackets. I"ve done my 311 and and 2 Internationals, and the alternators are tucked up tight against the engine, and the sheet metal goes on right over the top of them. Can"t even tell they"re converted unless you look close.
