J, the bearing shells have a locating tab that fits a groove in the cap. Had you installed it incorectly chances are you would have bound the engine and it would have turned hard, you would have known it. Does the pressure vary widely from idle to high idle with hot oil? If so the bearings could be letting it get away, if not the pump relief valve could be "jacked up" by adding washers under the relief valve spring to get the pressure where you need it.
