On the series IV when they took the old piston pump out of the belly and put a gear pump on the belt pulley drive, if I remember right they did away with the hyd. fill/dipstick. So then maybe the oil level in the old hyd. compartment doesn't have to be as high. I was going to suggest just letting it find its own level. But if the power director over flows, then that's a bummer! I didn't realize the hyd. pump reservoir was that much higher than the PD. How about running an overflow line from the PD fill back into the hyd. fill?
